I started flying in 1987 while I was in college at Trinity Western University.  At the time (1986) TWU had an aviation program, and the exchange rate for the US/Canadian dollar was good.  I graduated in 1990 with a pocket full of pilot certificates and a degree.  Then I spent several years building houses.............  In 1997 I decided to acquire my CFI certificate, and began part time work as a flight instructor in October 1997, while I taught elementary school.  I spent 2 and a half years as a flight instructor in El Monte (EMT), CA.  Finally in March of 2000 I made the jump and became a full time pilot and moved to Alaska.

Flying in Alaska

While in Alaska I worked for L.A.B Flying Service. L.A.B. operates scheduled passenger service in S.E. Alaska, as well as in the summer they fly tours to the Juneau ice fields and Glacier Bay.  I spent much of my time flying from Skagway to Glacier Point (9 trips a day).  Glacier Point is at the base of the Davidson Glacier about 12 miles south of Haines.  After we dropped the tourists off, they would go out in canoes on the terminal lake at the base of the glacier while we headed back to Skagway and picked up 30 more of them.

These are the guys.  "The Brat Pack" as some of the pilots in Juneau called us.

Flying in California

When I left Alaska (Oct. 2002), I came back home to southern California and began working for Ameriflight. I started in the Piper Lance and flew it for about 6 months before I moved into Chieftain/Navajo for 2 months and now fly the Beech 99.
